After Team Canada rallied to recover from a 1-3-1 series deficit, an estimated 15 out of 22 million Canadians tuned in to the eighth and final game (September 28, 1972), which was broadcast live into homes, schools and workplaces across the country. The reverse design by Canadian artist Joel Kimmel features two hockey players representing Team Canada in the 1972 Canada-U.

Set against the team jersey's iconic maple leaf, the hockey players are accompanied by the words'THE SERIES LA SÉRIE' and'50 YEARS ANS'. The coaches' initials and the players' jersey numbers surround the inner portion to represent the spirit of Team Canada, while the outside portion features a hockey net pattern.
